Q. Who cannot purchase tickets?
A. Contest guidelines prohibit the following people from purchasing tickets in the lottery; anyone under the age of 18, the Lottery Manager, the Auditor of the tickets, the Lottery Committee, employees of Stride Management Corp, Stewart and Associates and their employees and families of the above residing at the same address.
Q. Can I support my local branch?
A. Proceeds from the lottery are used by your local Legion branch to support programs in the local community. The Legions of Alberta provide funding for youth citizenship programs, housing projects, medical research and equipment and seniors programs in your area.
Proceeds are donated to the branch closest to the address on the ticket unless you specify otherwise.
Q. Why do you want my e-mail address?
A. For on-going and future lottery projects and lottery updates.
Q. Is the ticket tax deductible/do you get a tax receipt?
A. No there is no tax receipt issued and the ticket is not tax deductible
Q. Must the ticket purchaser and the name on the ticket be over the age of 18 years?
A. Yes, the Public Trustees Act prohibits anyone under the age of 18 to have their name on a ticket.
Q. Can tickets be put in the name of a corporation or business?
A. Yes. Should the ticket be a winner, the prize is then awarded to the corporation or business and the person who claims the prize must be able to prove they are an authorized officer of that company.
Q. How many names can be put on a ticket?
A. Should the purchaser want to put more than two (2) names on a ticket it is recommended that the purchaser keep record of who is involved with the purchase. The lottery licensee is not responsible for any conflict between joint ticket purchases. In the event of a winning ticket stub having more than one name the licensee will award the prize to one individual whose name is listed on the stub. The licensee is not responsible for resolving any disputes, which may arise from the different individuals.
Q. How are prizes awarded?
A. Once draws have been completed prize letters will be mailed out. The prize letter informs the winner of what they have won and where and when to pick up their prize. They must have the prize letter and picture I.D. to claim the prize. All prizes must be accepted as awarded there will be no cash substitutions.
Q. Can we take orders from people outside the province of Alberta?
A. Any purchaser who RESIDES OUTSIDE ALBERTA BUT IS CALLING FROM WITHIN ALBERTA may purchase a ticket. The ticket can be mailed to any address (even out of Alberta as long as the purchase originated in Alberta).
Tickets are only available for purchase within Alberta.
Q. What is done with my personal information?
A. We respect your privacy. We do not rent, sell or trade our mailing lists. The personal information collected will be used to process your ticket orders and to contact you regarding ongoing and future lotteries.
